The nurse shortage crisis is looming, and people are beginning to take note of how to address it. On the CECU Career Education Report Podcast, host Jason Altmire spoke with Patty Knecht, PhD, RN, ANEF, VP and Chief Nursing Officer for Ascend Learning and ATI.

Dr. Knecht provided insight into how solutions can be found starting with high school students by introducing them to a career in nursing. She then explained how that introduction can lead students into a wide variety of avenues within the nursing profession. She described innovative educational approaches, as well as offered advice on how nursing programs can support nursing faculty.

Other topics of discussion covered the importance of diversity in the healthcare workforce, the role of government initiatives, and the need for collaboration among stakeholders to find sustainable solutions.
