Peggy Lynn Leehy professional experience includes14 years on a  fifty-six bed medical surgical unit, worked as a Team Leader, Charge Nurse, and a preceptor.

Transferred to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for 22 years. During that time, Peggy attended Bellevue University in an accelerated bachelors program, received a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Management, and continued in the role as a Core Coordinator in the PACU for the 10 years.

In 2006, Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha Nebraska hired Peggy as a full time faculty member. Peggy facilitated learning for students in a 15 months accelerated Bachelor of Science Nursing program at the freshman, sophomore, and junior level in the classroom, clinical environment, and during skills practice and simulated clinical experiences.

In 2007, Peggy attained a Master’s of Science in Nursing/Ed. through the University of Phoenix. She also taught Nutrition as an adjunct faculty member on-line for the University of Phoenix also.

Peggy also was a coordinator for the college’s 15-bed skills lab and developed simulated experiences for the simulation center and created a Simulation Faculty Handbook. A handbook was created as a guide for the faculty to construct scenarios, refer to formative and summative protocol, and to review several other simulation processes.

Peggy received the Nebraska Methodist College Faculty Senate Peer Recognition Award in 2009 and the Nebraska Nurses Association Positive Image of Nursing Award in 2011, as an outstanding RN whose commitment and dedication exemplifies the role of a nurse. Students found that Peggy “Expected the best, was approachable, and knowledgeable.” Peggy at the Nebraska Methodist College was a member of the Curriculum Committee, BSN Admission & Advancement team, Faculty Senate, attended Department of Nursing meetings and college forums.

Peggy belonged to the National League of Nursing and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning.

Peggy is presently employed as a Nursing Education Specialist at Ascend Learning for the Assessment Technology Institute (ATI), where she reviews and creates assessment tools and products. Assists at item writing workshops and helps review and develop ATI Review Modules and other ATI products.
