Aug 26, 2021, 18:14 PM by Gina Kellogg

Leawood, Kan. (Aug. 26, 2021) — Telehealth will be a key part of most students’ real-life nursing experience. But how familiar are educators with the technology to teach about it?

An article on the ATI Nursing Education Educator Blog describes 6 types of telehealth and the new ways medicine is using it. The article explains how the pandemic has spotlighted the value of teaching students about telehealth. It cites how, early on in the pandemic, many patients' only option for meeting safely with healthcare providers was via digital technology. Specifically, soon after the pandemic began, the Centers for Disease Control released a paper detailing a 154% increase in telehealth visits during the last week of March 2020 compared with the same period in 2019.

The article highlights additional trends in telehealth to help educators understand the need to incorporate the topic into their lesson plans.
