Lois has seven years of experience as a content expert at ATI. She demonstrates expertise in writing multiple choice and alternate items.  She has experience in all phases of the item development process at ATI, including writing items herself, review of peer items and items written by external content experts, analysis of pre-test items and performing cueing reads. She has provided consultation on item writing, item analysis, and constructing blueprints for a number of nursing programs. She has served as lead or co-lead in the development of many ATI products that contain an item writing component including, Dosage Calculation, Pharmacology Made Easy, Clinical Reasoning and Nurse’s Touch. Lois has participated in numerous item writing workshops sponsored by ATI serving as a lead reviewer for a number of content areas. Lois also served on the National Council’s item review subcommittee.

Formerly, Lois was the director of the Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Ks associate degree nursing program and director of the Johnson County Community College practical nursing program, Overland Park KS. Additionally, she worked for the Iowa Department of Public Health where she served as the associate director of nursing practice for the Iowa Board of Nursing and as the Bureau Chief for Professional Licensure.
