GLORIA JACOBSON, PHD, RN

NURSING EDUCATION CONSULTANT

Gloria Jacobson, PHD, RN, earned her B.S. in Nursing from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, Ill.). She earned her M.S. with a focus in Psychiatric Nursing from Rush University (Chicago) and her PhD in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Her early nursing career integrated her commitment to mental health care across the lifespan with nursing education and interprofessional research. She has served as nurse educator, department chair, associate dean, and dean in programs offering baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in nursing practice and nursing science. In each of these roles, she has persistently instilled values of justice, integrity, and inclusivity within a culture of excellence that supports each student as they pursue entry into the nursing profession or further study to expand their knowledge. Serving in leadership roles, she committed similar support to faculty, enabling them to sharpen and often surpass their goals.

Dr. Jacobson has served and led local, state, and national committees and projects, addressing nursing education and practice, standards of excellence, curriculum development, and the recruitment and retention of students, including those who may never have imagined a career in nursing. She has extensive experience in program accreditation guiding faculty through both the preparation and the actual evaluation, as well as serving as a member of several accreditation teams.
