Nov 19, 2018, 16:35 PM by Gina Kellogg
In an article in the November/December 2018 issue of Nurse Educator journal, a team of ATI psychometricians delved into the topic of academic predictors. The team — consisting of Senior Psychometrician Xin “Lucy” Liu, PhD; Lead Psychometrician Casey Codd, PhD; and Director, Research and Applied Psychometrics, Christine Mills, PhD — examined the incremental values of academic predictors that may be adopted as nursing school admission criteria. Their findings revealed that using additional content areas of mathematics, reading, and English in conjunction with science contributes significantly to the prediction of early nursing school success.

The team’s study demonstrates an incremental validity approach that provides valuable guidelines to inform the selection of effective, accurate, and cost-effective admission tools for screening qualified nursing candidates.
