Description & Objectives:
This session was recorded live at the 2018 ATI National Nurse Educator Summit in Salt Lake City, UT. This session is presented by Annie Moore-Cox PhD, RN; Alice Myers, PhD, MSN, RN, and Amy Minnix, MSN, RN. 1.5 CNE's will be provided upon completion. Attendees must submit a completed evaluation of the educational activity to receive their CNE certificate. In this interactive session, expert educators will guide participants through a brief discussion of the scholarship and research about active learning and help participants create their own active classroom sessions using a lesson plan template. Dr. Alice Myers and Amy Minnix will describe examples of successful classroom activities. Dr. Annie Moore-Cox, author of a recent Journal of Nursing Education article on lesson planning, will walk participants through a lesson plan template to use as a road map for each classroom experience. Participants will create their own active learning classroom activity and document it using the lesson plan template. Participants can share their lesson plans with one another and try them out when they get back to their respective schools.
Objective:
- By the end gf the presentation, learners will be able describe elements of active learning strategies.
- Explore purpose and components of developing a lesson plan.
- Create a lesson plan to support an active learning strategy to be used in different learning environments.
