Before You Register

Use this checklist to make sure you're signing up for the right TEAS exam and are set for test day.

  • Make sure you register for the TEAS exam type your school requires (ATI, PSI, or school-administered) and confirm it accepts your testing format (remote at home or in-person) — some schools don't accept scores from remote exams taken at home. Registering for the wrong exam type is non-refundable. Please confirm with your school prior to registering.
  • You'll need a physical, non-expired government-issued photo ID for both in-person and at-home exams. Digital copies (such as a picture of your ID on your phone) and printouts are not accepted.
  • The name on your ID must match your registration name exactly.
  • Accepted forms include a driver's license, state ID, passport, military ID, permanent resident card, U.S. visa, tribal card, or foreign passport.
  • Each exam counts as an attempt, even if you don't finish or submit.
  • ATI doesn't limit your total attempts, but many schools do — confirm your school's cap before registering.
  • After you complete an exam, you must wait at least 48 hours before scheduling a retake through ATI.
  • You can reschedule an exam through ATI, but you can't cancel one.
  • Exam purchases are refundable only with the required documentation — review the refund policy before you pay.
  • Your registration includes one free transcript; additional transcripts may be purchased for a fee if you plan to apply to more than one school.
  • How your scores reach your school depends on the school — some receive results automatically through ATI, others require you to send a transcript.
  • Some scores are available immediately; others take up to 2–3 business days.
  • Transcripts can take extra time to reach schools, which may affect application deadlines — confirm your school's score deadline.
  • If you need accommodations, start early — the process depends on how you're testing, and documentation is always required.
  • Testing at home through ATI: Submit your request at least 30 days before your test date. See ATI's accommodation requirements →
  • Testing through your school or at a PSI center: Contact your school or PSI directly, since each sets its own process and deadlines.

Exam Registration FAQs

Choose your exam format above, then select Register to go to the ATI shop and book your date. The ATI TEAS is one exam offered through four proctors — online (proctored by ATI or your institution) or in person (at an institution or a PSI testing center). Confirm which one your school accepts before you pay.
Your fee covers the exam registration and one free transcript sent to a school of your choice. Exact pricing depends on the format and proctor you choose and is shown at checkout. Additional transcripts and prep packages are purchased separately.
Your school decides. Some programs only accept an in-person exam or a specific proctor, so always confirm before registering. If your school lets you choose, online (remote) testing lets you test from home with a webcam in a quiet, private room, while in-person testing is taken at a campus or a PSI testing center.
Yes — the TEAS can be retaken. How soon you can retest and how many attempts count are set by your school, so check your program's policy. Many students prepare for at least 6 weeks between attempts to improve their score.
There's no universal passing score — each nursing or allied health program sets its own minimum. Check your program's admissions requirements for the score they expect, and aim comfortably above it.

Transcript credits let you send your official TEAS transcript to more than one school. Each credit is $27 and covers one submission (one credit = one school). Credits don't expire and can be used any time after you've completed your proctored exam. If you've taken the TEAS more than once, you can choose which set of results to share.
